Cabopino Golf course

Cabopino is well situated roughly between Fuengirola and Marbella, about a 10 minute drive from each town. Built just behind the small port with the same name it is easy to find being just off the main coast road. Cabopino golf course is also one of the most scenic golf courses in Malaga with views of the mountains and the Mediterranean.
At just over 5,000 meters in length the course is well suited to high and medium handicappers. Although the designers have made good use of the limited space with numerous doglegs, elevations and blind holes. You should only need to take the driver out on a few holes as postion for you next short is of more importance on this track.
The course is well suited for mixed groups and recreational holiday golf. For the more serious golfing groups working to a budget this makes a good starting course to the holiday and is great for sharpening up those short irons or a way of easing in to playing some of the longer courses.
The route map for the first nine winds around the neighbouring valley and back to the club house, following some tight fairways, especially hole 5. The rise and drop of some of the holes on this front nine need carefull club selection, especially the par 4, 3rd were a long hitter can almost reach the green 200 meters below the tee.
The back nine is very pretty with holes 10 through to 14 winding through the natural umbrella pines before heading out to a third vally for the 16 th and 17th.
A couple of short par 3 with water hazards break up longer holes on the back nine with water coming into play on the 12th and 14th.
A short par 4 dogleg 18th takes you back to the small club house and its welcoming bar and terrace.
The course is well maintained by one of the larger golf management companies in Malaga with good fairways and greens that always hold well.
The port has few good bars for an after game beer, though it can be a bit quiet in the winter. A new addition to the costa del sol golf courses, Cabopino is set to become one of the most popular golf course on the coast. |
