This town lies between Torremolinos and Fuengirola forming a chain of the liveliest costal towns attracting hundreds of tourists. Apart from the trademark beaches, there are amusement parks and golf courses in this region The town is classified into three main areas: Benalmadena Pueblo- the village situated on the mountainside with white washed houses; Arroyo de la Miel the residential and business area, and Costa Benalmadena- a first class tourist resort.

The Puerto Marina is the star attraction of the Benalmadena Costa- considered the best by many. At night the nightclubs and bars are booming with the latest music and partygoers can dance & dine late into the night. In the center of town, the Parque de la Paloma forms a soothing green belt. It contains a lake with a fountain and a waterfall, landscaped gardens with enclosures for a variety of animals. The other highlights here are The Tivoli theme park and The Sea Life Center.
The popular beaches here are Arroyo de la Miel, Arroyo Hondo, La Morera, and Santa Ana among others. In keeping with the tradition of the Costa del Sol, Benalmadena offers an excellent golf course to avid golfers.
