Marbella Flamenco
No tourist destination on the Costa del Sol is complete without a flamenco show.
Flamenco began as a form of song in Andalusia about two hundred years ago. It is effectively a gypsy blues that grew from the synthesis of a marginalised and passionate people with Indian, Arabic and Spanish roots and the basic Shakespearean ingredients of family, love, honour, betrayal, revenge.
Flamenco is a gypsy dance that tells about the joys and pains of life itself. A flamenco dancer is one who frees his or her spirit from any and all inhibitions and just expresses himself or herself.
Today flamenco continues to inspire new music and has had its roots grafted to blues, pop, rock, jazz, salsa, rap, bossa and folk.
